In consultation with a Project Advisory Group made up of representatives from the Department of Health, Dental Health Services Victoria, public dental services, settlement and related agencies, a model of care has been developed to promote good practice in oral health care.
This model uses an integrated and communicative approach to oral health care with refugees and asylum seeker clients; it involves client services and referral agencies during referral into and out of dental, a comprehensive clinical risk assessment by practitioners, including social risk factors to health, and other tips to good practice.
