Understanding key issues in accessing mental health services for refugee background communities in Victoria.
Take the survey here:
As part of a joint undertaking by VRHN and Foundation House for the Diverse Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Program, this project will draw on insights from community-led responses about the needs and barriers for people from refugee backgrounds when accessing mental health services in Victoria. Through consultations with VRHN members and Community Advisory Groups, this project will help identify current gaps that refugee background communities experience in the mental health service system and the challenges that services face when engaging and providing mental health care to clients. The insights from these consultations will be integrated into a framework for community engagement with refugee communities that can be replicated for inclusive mental health reform promotion across Victoria.
We are keen to learn more about your experience working with people from refugee backgrounds who may need mental health support (inclusive of both people seeking asylum and those with permanent protection). We are interested in understanding any challenges you may face when engaging with refugee communities, providing direct services, and/or any service or system gaps. While your responses will remain anonymous, the collated outcomes of the survey will be shared with the VRHN members and other mental health reform stakeholders.
