This factsheet was developed to help dental professionals recognise the impact refugee and asylum seekers’ previous experiences and how it affects their oral health.
This factsheet outlines why refugees may have a high risk of poor oral health, refugees’ usages of private and public services, dental services available to asylum seekers, the impact of poor diet, and tips to working with torture survivors and when booking appointments. Though the document is written for the NSW context, much of the information is transferable to Victoria and other states.
