The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) has produced a short report outlining the opportunities and challenges of refugee and migrant settlement in rural and regional Australia. Drawing on the case studies of Karen refugee settlement in Nhill, the settlement of the Iraqi, Afghan, Congolese and Sudanese communities in Shepparton, and the opportunities presented by the creation of the Safe Haven Enterprise Visas (SHEV), the report highlights key issues to be factored into the policy design and planning process.
