CONNECT: Free, Rapid HIV Testing
CONNECT is a national initiative by Thorne Harbour Health designed to expand access to free, private, and rapid HIV self-testing through discreet, wall-mounted vending machines. The project aims to reduce barriers to testing and support earlier diagnosis, particularly among priority populations including international students, migrants, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Vending machines are currently available to the public at:
- RMIT University (Melbourne City Campus) – Building 10, Level 4, near Room 74 (Crepe Cart café)
- University of Melbourne (Parkville Campus) – Arts and Culture Building (Building 159), near the first-floor toilets
- Federation University (Mount Helen Campus)
The CONNECT website is available in Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, Indonesian, Malay, Mandarin, Spanish, and Vietnamese. It provides information about HIV prevention and treatment.
It also provides translated guidance on how to access and use the tests and access support services if needed.
