Launch of Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria
The Victorian Government is introducing significant changes to how it works with multicultural and multifaith communities, recently passing legislation to establish Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria, starting on 1 October 2026.
This new body will bring together the community engagement functions of the Victorian Multicultural Commission and the policy and grants functions of Multicultural Affairs.
The reforms aim to strengthen community voices in government decision-making, improve regional engagement and accountability, and recognise accessible language services as essential to accessing government services. Existing funded programs and grants will continue.
