The NRNN co-chairs, Farah Kalakech and Julie Maree Wood, will facilitate the meetings:

Farah is a senior dietitian at the NSW Refugee Health Service.

Julie is a researcher at Deakin University who researches nutrition and food insecurity among people living as refugees. 

At the first meeting on Wednesday 27th May 2026, Julie will deliver a short presentation sharing the results from her recently-published study exploring the food security issues currently being presented to settlement workers by their clients.

At following meetings, Farah will share her experiences working with refugees with disability, and a wonderful, creative public health nutritionist will share a co-designed community cookbook celebrating the many food cultures in her region. 

Guest speakers will also be invited to talk about topics related to food and nutrition issues for people living as refugees. If you have a topic for discussion, please enquire via the button below.
